About The Interview

Now since this time around I am an alumni, I feel like my interviewer may not have gone so in depth about certain areas as she may with someone applying for the first time. I will try to do my best to rack my brain for some questions from my first interview.
What to do to prepare:
  • Find pages on Facebook
It was definitely a help to see what everyone else’s experiences have been and just have moral support throughout the process
  • Google to find some other DCP blogs
I am not the first one to have the idea about blogging/vlogging about their experience interviewing and participating in the Disney College Program. I’ve found some great blogs out there and I thank them for keeping my nerves down and giving some great pointers!
  • Make sure you know the rank of your top 4 roles
The recruiters will always ask for your top roles. The amount that they ask for varies so be prepared for more rather than less. When applying take screen shots of the roles that you say you are interested in so that you remember what you’re signing off on.
  • Watch a Disney Movie!!!If you made it past the Web Based interview then celebrate a little! You are one step closer to making it to a job that some people only dream about!!
Questions To Prepare For:
Thank you to http://alyssasdreamcometrue.blogspot.com/ for helping me prepare for most of these! Check out her blog it was a great help!!
General Questions:
  • Why do you want to participate in the Disney College Program?
(Since I’m an Alum, I was asked why do I want to do it again)

Be Honest! They really want to know. Even if you have never even been to Florida before, tell them why you want to go… (One of my roommates from the first program had never been to Florida until the day she moved in!)
  • Are you familiar with the parks and resorts?

Again tell them as much as you know. My family owns Disney Vacation Club (DVC) so I was able to really be confident in letting my recruiter know that I knew my way around without a map in the parks.
  • How would a Disney Internship help you in the future professionally?

  • What do you think you would gain from having an internship with Disney over another company?
**I didn’t have too many general questions probably because it’s my second program, but check out some other blogs for more general ones**

Role Questions:
(These questions are exactly what she asked me for the top roles that I had)
  • List your Top 3 Roles:
    1. Hospitality
    2. Concierge
    3. Tie between Floral and Attractions
  • Why do you want Hospitality/Concierge? (She lumped these together since they are very similar)
  • What would you do if a guest came up to you after a long day in the parks and they were complaining about how they wait in a long ride for their favorite ride and it was shut down and they were not able to get on it?
  • What do you think the most challenging part of this role would be for you?
  • What about Floral made you rank that in your top positions?
** This was the first year they are offering this position so she did explain it briefly to me before asking me about it. It seems like it is a lot of event set up and break down and to me, any role that I could potential work on a Disney Wedding I am all for!**
  • Why did you choose to put Attractions down when you had a role in Merchandise on your last program?
Wrapping Up:
She asked me very general questions that they need to ask about if you can comply with the Disney Look and if you need any medical accommodations. Then she went into what to expect over the next few weeks and what the next steps would be should I get an offer.
She then turned it over to me to see if I had any questions. I totally stumbled when she asked me, because I really didn’t have any. I was honest with her about it and she was very understanding! She said that because I was an alumni she didn’t really expect for me to have the same kinds of concerns that someone just applying would.
After the Interview:
Well you did it! Everything is now out of your hands! Just try to sit back and relax (I know that is impossible) and wait for that email to come in. This is a great time to be in a Facebook group with others that are applying because they are going through the same thing. It will also let you know when acceptances start rolling out because everyone will start to post about their emails! Try to stay calm through it all because no news is good news. If you were a definite no than you would have heard right away.
Good Luck! I hope this helps!!
